A Beverly Hills plastic surgery center has unveiled a novel approach to liposuction that seeks address both unwanted fat and the overlying skin. Lloyd Krieger, M.D., founder and Medical Director of Rodeo Drive Plastic Surgery, the first-and-only plastic surgery center on Beverly Hills' ultimate address, is utilizing a novel form of liposuction which he calls Skin Activating Liposuction.

Whereas traditional liposuction removes fat, the surrounding skin can be left loose, minimizing the desired effect. The technique utilized by Dr. Krieger, activates the skin to help tighten the area resulting in a tauter, leaner-looking result. During the liposuction procedure, Dr. Krieger intentionally irritates the inner side of the skin causing it to tighten as it heals. Dr. Krieger notes that in large-volume lipo procedures the skin has to shrink by a large amount, so the technique proves useful in these situations as well.
